Book Check-outs, Book Returns, and Fines

Do you have any Northridge library books at home?
Return them in the school office any school day. Books may also be turned into your teacher or in the drop box near the door of the library.

Book Checkout Information:

At Northridge, library visits take place weekly and each class visits for 30 minutes. Checkouts are typically done during class visits but may also happen during the school day with teacher permission, or as open library time permits.  We are also open after school on Thursdays.

Kindergarten and 1st grade check out books as a class each week, and all library books stay in the classroom. Students may individually borrow books with parent permission - please email melani.wilkie@sanjuan.edu if you would like to borrow books for your young student.

2nd graders may borrow one book at a time.

3rd graders may borrow two books at a time.

4th and 5th graders may borrow up to four books at a time.

6th graders may borrow up to 5 books at a time.

We currently have a partnership with SacLibrary, allowing 3rd-6th grade students to borrow up to 2 SacLibrary books at a time from the Northridge Library.

Library books check out for 1 week. Let your librarian know if you would like to renew your book(s).  For the 2022-2023 school year, all library books should be returned by Friday, May 26th.

The number of checkouts may be limited for your student based on the number of lost or late books in their current library account.

There are no late fees for books returned after their due date. 

Please note that after 4 weeks of checkout with no return or renewal (or after May 26, whichever comes first) a book is considered LOST and will be retained in your student account until you clear it by returning the book or paying a replacement fine. If a LOST book cannot be found and returned, a fine equal to the cost of the book will be due.
This type of fine may be paid in cash, in the office, during open office hours. Replacement of the book with a new copy is also allowed.
